1st level (B.Sc.) studies
The overall aim of courses in Electronics and Telecommunication is to provide the graduates the knowledge and skills necessary for the implementation and operation of systems and electronic devices and systems, telecommunication networks and services. The graduate will be prepared to carry out both conventional as well as innovative engineering projects, as well as to manage human resources. It is desirable that the graduate gains the knowledge of a foreign language at B2 level (cf. the European Framework of Reference for Languages of the Council of Europe), in particular the specialist terminology in English in the field of electronics and telecommunication.
The courses in the major Electronics and Telecommunication are carried out at full-time and part-time levels.
During the first years, the students receive theoretical and practical preparation in the field of basic sciences (mathematics, physics, computer science, programming fundamentals, foreign languages, economics, etc.) and technical science (theory of circuits, electronics, digital systems, microprocessors and their programming, signal processing, foundations of telecommunication, electromagnetic field theory, foundations of automation and robotics, etc.). During the subsequent courses, the students acquire knowledge in specialized topics, which are a necessary complementation for shaping their professional profile. A large number of diverse optional subjects allows the students to make their courses of study accustomed and fine-tuned to individual interests as well as the requirements of the labour market.
After diploma exam the graduates obtain the professional title of an engineer in electronics and telecommunication. They are prepared for eventual continuation of their studies at the next (M.Sc.) level
Full-time studies in Electronics and Telecommunication last 3.5 years (7 semesters), whereas part-time studies - 4 years (8 semesters). The studies are carried out in two expertise fields:
Digital signal processing
The graduates obtain a solid knowledge and skills in the design, manufacture and operation of signal processing systems. The studies provide them with a thorough knowledge of analogue and digital electronics, principles of operation of modern digital signal processing systems, design, construction and programming of signal processing devices, industrial and laboratory measurement and control systems, automation and control of industrial processes, computer-aided design electronics and telecommunication, data processing and analysis.
They are prepared to carry out professional activities in the field of electronics and signal processing systems. It is therefore expected that graduates of this specialty will find employment in companies involved in the design, programming and implementation of control and measurement systems and controls in distribution, maintenance and production management units as well as telecom companies involved in the installation, operation software and telecommunication equipment. Another group of potential employees could be various institutions involved in data processing and analysis.
Vehicle Electronics
The graduates gain knowledge and skills in the design, manufacture and operation of modern electronic systems. In the course of their studies they master the methods of computer design electronic analogue and digital circuits, electronics manufacturing technologies and methods for testing electronic circuits. Students learn microprocessor embedded systems and programming in C and scripting languages, become familiar with the thermal phenomena in electronic components and systems and examine electromagnetic compatibility in electronic circuits .
The studies provide a solid basis for engineering activities of the graduates in the field of electronics and electronic systems. The graduates shall be employed in businesses focused on design and / or manufacturing electronic equipment and in companies that make extensive use of repair and electronic equipment. They may also find a job at assistant positions in research and development units particularly in automotive branch, as well as in companies engaged in marketing, service and wide-range support for electronic equipment and systems.
